On Thanksgiving Day this past year, a calico cat showed up on our front porch and she hasn't left since. We did not feed her for the first 3 weeks she was there, but she continued to stay anyway. I think she just wanted some attention, which Dana and Jordan lavished on her everytime we went out the front door.
One day a couple of months ago we noticed we had 5 cats in our driveway, which led us to believe we would soon have kittens. Sure enough 4 weeks ago "Poco"(we named her pocohantus because she showed up on Thanksgiving)had a litter of 4 kitten in a chiminea in our backyard. Dana was thrilled!!! We didn't handle the kittens and only peeked at them when Poco was eating. On Sunday morning, 2 weeks ago, we woke up to find that she had moved them all. Dana was devastated!!! We were pretty sure she moved them to a hole in between the neighbors 1st and 2nd floor. Poco was still hanging around, but no kittens to be seen. Today we looked out our front door and there was Poco and one little black kitten. It looks like she may be the only one left. Dana named them all the day they were born, and she is sure that this one is "Tink". So that is the story of how the Long family sort-of got a cat, which they never thought would happen in a million years.
i LOVE that picture of Dana and Jordan. Just too cute! We moved the recliner out of the living room and that makes the room seem much less crowded with the new LONG couch :-)
Reagan is sitting here with me reading your blog. She and I have to say that "Tink" is very cute. Even though we are not cat people. Dana and Jordan are gorgeous!
My Testimony:
I grew up in a Christian Home. When I was 4 years old, I had heard the story of Jesus Christ so many times and I realized that I needed Him as MY personal Saviour. I knew that He was my salvation and I wanted a relationship with Him. I knew I was a sinner and that He was my redemption. I asked him to forgive me and to be the Lord of my life. So, above all else, I am a child of God-redeemed by the blood of the Lamb, Jesus Christ. I pray that all my friends and family know the peace that comes from Him alone.
I am married to my childhood sweetheart, Donald Jeremy Long. He is my best friend and I am so blessed to be his wife. I am also Mom to 2 sweet children-a daughter, Dana Marie, born February 25, 2003, and a son, Jordan Garrett, born July 5, 2005. I am so grateful to God for his abundant blessings!
Adventures in Odyssey
I had the privilege of working with Focus on the Family's childrens radio broadcast, Adventures in Odyssey, for 10 years. I played a character named Lucy Cunningham-Schultz. This was definitely a highlight of my childhood.
Thailand
Don and I lived in Thailand for a year and a half (1997-1998) and worked with his brother who was a missionary there. That is definitely an experience we will never forget. We made some wonderful lifetime friends and God taught us so many things during that time.
